When Should This Support Be Used?
Following an ankle injury, it is important to follow the RICE principles of rest, ice, compression and elevation to ensure that the injury does not become more severe. The compression part of 'RICE' can be achieved with a sprained ankle support. This can help to reduce pain levels, and with it, mobility of the ankle joint.
Why Is It Important to Manage An Ankle Injury?
It’s important to manage your ankle injury with a brace in order to:
- Reduce pain: Swelling may occur which can be painful, with compression helping to reduce this and with it manage the pain.
- Improve mobility: Remaining inactive isn’t always an option. The use of a brace offers another layer of protection as you go about your daily life.
- Protect against further injury: An ankle support for ligament damage helps to minimise the risk of further damage being caused when active. Following injury, there will always be an inherent weakness in the joint, where a subsequent injury could be even worse.
Is the Form Fit Pro Useful for Rehabilitation?
If you're receiving physiotherapy for your injury, an ankle support can be used outside of these sessions as part of your overall rehabilitation programme in a bid to achieve full fitness.
