Suitable Conditions for This Support

The MedSpec Ankle Stabilising Brace is suitable for a range of issues, including:

  • Inversion sprains
  • Eversion sprains
  • Medial instability
  • Lateral instability
  • Subtalar joint instability

Additionally, the MedSpec ASO Brace is ideal for use by athletes returning to sports after injury, as it prevents excessive turning and rolling while remaining comfortable, breathable and low-profile.

Key Features

  • Colour: Black
  • Material: Ballistic Nylon
  • Provides great rollover protection without hard stays or splints
  • Figure of eight strapping to prevent rollover
  • CoolFlex padding stretches and breathes for maximum comfort
  • Discreet design ideal for easy accommodation with footwear
  • Low profile enough to fit into most sports shoes
  • Seam at the rear rather than the bottom for more comfort and durability
  • Bilateral design means it can be used on either foot

How Does the MedSpec ASO Provide Stability?

The secret to the robust stabilisation of this brace is in the stabilising straps that contour above the malleoli (the bony protrusions on the inside and outside of your ankle), anchoring with the bottom of your foot to prevent dangerous inversion or eversion of the ankle. With this simple yet secure design, the brace provides a high level of stability, rivalling the support expected of bulkier braces that use rigid stays on either side of the ankle.

Does the MedSpec Brace Provide Compression?

The elastic cuff of the MedSpec ASO Brace helps to apply the ideal amount of compression to your ankle, which is ideal for reducing pain and swelling as your ankle recovered. This can be adjusted with the laced-enclosure design, allowing you to tweak your brace to ensure it is both comfortable and supportive.

Figure-of-Eight Strapping

The ASO Ankle Stabiliser includes figure of eight strapping which mimics taping application for optimal comfort during use. The straps are simple to wrap around, allowing you to enjoy the supportive feeling of a physiotherapist's strapping application from the comfort of your own home.

How Do I Put the Ankle Stabiliser On?

For detailed instructions explaining how to properly apply the MedSpec ASO Ankle Support, click the link below:

We've summarise the application instructions below:

  1. Slide the brace on over your foot and into place on your ankle/foot
  2. Lace up the brace (imagine you are wearing a regular pair of laced shoes) in a figure of eight style
  3. Tie the laces securely
  4. Wrap the long strap around the ankle and under the foot, securing it in place
  5. Do the same on the other side
  6. Ensure these are in place on either sides of the ankle
  7. Wrap the final strap around the front of the ankle (so the logo is visible)

Should the Ankle Brace be Worn Under or Over my Sock?

We recommend that the MedSpec ASO Ankle Brace be worn over socks. This provides optimum comfort for extended periods of use.

What is the Ankle Stabiliser Made From?

The MedSpec ASO Brace is made of durable ballistic nylon. This is a hand washable and breathable material ideal for sporting activities.
